Dan Connell

Dan Connell teaches Journalism and African politics at Simmons College in Boston, MA. He is a journalist whose articles, broadcast reports, and photographs have appeared in news outlets including The Washington Post, the BBC and Foreign Affairs. Dan is the founder and former executive director of the Boston-based non-governmental organization Grassroots International.

He is a world-renown expert on the Horn of Africa, especially Eritrea, where he spent many years reporting. His most recent book is Converations with Eritrean Political Prisoners. His other books include Against All Odds: A Chronicle of the Eritrean Revolution.
