Hector Emanuel is a Peruvian-born photojournalist with a Master's degree in Physics. His photography focuses mainly on social and political issues in Latin America and the US. He has received awards from the World Press Photo Foundation and the National Press Photographers Association's (NPPA) Best of Photojournalism for his documentation of the civil conflict in Colombia. He was recently awarded by Pictures of the Year International (POYI) for his portrait series depicting life in the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. His photographs have been widely exhibited and he regularly contributes to books, newspapers, magazines (Time, Newsweek, Men's Journal, The Washington Post Sunday Magazine, The Washingtonian, among others) and the work of NGOs (The American Red Cross, Greenpeace, and Amnesty International). Recently, he has been applying his understated documentary style of photography to a variety of magazine portrait assignments.
He is currently represented by the Italian agency Grazia Neri and is a member of Metro Collective.
